I hadn't thought about this before I acquired my G5, but of course my copy of virtual PC is a no go with the new architecture. Any word on his being updated? Probably more intricate than a patch. Of course it will come from MS, so who knows about reliability.

Virtual PC is reliable, I'm not sure what you're tallking about.

It is announced G5 support will be in the next version of Virtual PC, but the release date is not announced. I'm expecting Dec-Jan personally.

I look for it more in may - june, i read a cnet article saying they wanted to release the new VPC with the new office for mac. And they placed office around the begining of summer, maybe as late as back to school season. But i do look for an updater for current vpc owners. Hopefully microsoft doesnt screw VPC up to much, but for sure we'll be in product activation hell.

Just discovered this tonight when a friend of mine asked me to take a look at his new G5 and why it wasn't running VPC. Sure enough he wasn;t too pleased with that. But what are you gonna do? Waiting for Microsoft sucks. If it does come out next summer thats almost a Year of G5 customers not being able to run VPC with no alternative. Not exactly a positive for the Mac Platform in some eyes

I'd hope that MS has left themselves open for a little competition in the emulation market. We were all getting out hopes up with FWB, I wonder what that was all about. Well anyway, hopefully with a redesign MS might have a chance at making VPC even better with graphics acceleration or at least a more efficient emulator.

My mom's going to be upset because her office promised to buy her a new G5, but she'll need VPC to run their stupid medical management program. I guess she'll have to wait to ditch her Dell.
