Anyone remember those huge VR Goggles they used to make?

Suppose you combine the Icuiti VR Glasses with Nvidia's Quadro FX 4500 Graphics card.

Now all you'd need are supported applications. QuickTime VR is fun to play around in with Bryce but a true VR world, ala Second Life, with support for stereo displays, head tracking, and the like would be fun to play with.

Anyone playing with this sort of tech?

I'm looking to build some such set-up. In fact, it's what I came here searching for. I've been researching Goggles/Eyewear to use with Second Life.

I'm willing to upgrade graphics card if it's truly needed, but I'm hoping to avoid paying a fortune.

FYI-
At 640x480, the VR920s you mention are ultra-LOW-res. They're going to be fat, chunky pixels. At that low a resolution I'd have no interest at all.

I Have Old VR Glasses & More-- FOR CHEAP!

I work with a non-profit org that gets donations of tech equipment from govt agencies. They keep the computers and resell other items to support their work. Recently, we got a pile of VR equipment that looks good? but, I cannot find a market for it! Hate to throw it our for that reason alone!. Includes Crystal Eyes LCD Glasses and emitters, VR gloves, Polhemus Fastrak positioning recording device and transmitters, cables, Polhemus stylus (pair of 'em) plus more. I've got a list. Sell all for $250 plus shipping. To get list, email me at karson@atlanticbb.net.
