ok, this is my question
i was watching the japanese get a mac ads (which are pretty cool)
and i came across the one talking about how pcs get viruses and macs don't.
well, now that macs can run windows, when you switch from macOs to Windonws, won't they get the same viruses that pcs running windows get ?

isn't that a bit gay then to actually use windows on a mac?
i never understood this move
i mean, you get a mac for the design and the operating system basically
if you run windows on it, what's the point?
so you can say you have a mac (but you're too scared to try os x out?) ?
i think the only reason for this dual boot thing is to get more people to
buy more macs and that's all, i refuse to believe that it actually helps people.
what do you guys think?

I disagree slightly here, i would say i use windows about 1/4 of the time due to the need to use programs such as microsoft Access for my ICT A-level, and just because there are times when you just need windows.

I think windows runs well for using most basic appls and is VERY useful to have on your mac.

Also,,, viruses are just as easy to have on windows on a mac as on a pc... its basically just like running a pc when you have xp.

With a good firewall and virus checker tho it should be fine .

Ive been using Macs for about 5 years now, and when I have to use windows, I find it hard to get around.. mainly with keyboard commands

Our Pc crapped out after about 3 years, so we got a MacPro. 3x500 for OSX, and I got a 160 just for windows. I have to use windows for a breeder assistant application and games we have.

doesnt mean Im scared of OSX, its just sometimes, we have to use windows.

fair enough if you "have" to use windows
i got my mac last year and now i use windows just for msn messenger :)
i don't know, windows on a mac just seems un-natural to me
i saw a dude run windows on my macbook pro and it just freaked me out
i think they shouldn't have given us the option, keep the mac community
more hardcore
but then again, what's ethics to a few billion dollars more profit eh?
:D
thanks for your opinions peoples :)

Avoid viruses

I have a MBP and have installed both bootcamp and parallels. I have a basic AVG free install on both but I don't read e-mail on either and I rarely browse the web, and then only with Firefox. I do not consider Windows an internet capable operating system and as such it is suitable only for running the Windows version of Office just to check formatting from Office:mac (usually OK if you use styles rather than manually laying things out on screen). That works just fine under Parallels. The bootcamp install is there at the moment so I can finish playing Call of Duty 2 at which point I won't be buying any more Windows games (getting a Wii :D ) and I will reclaim the disc space for OS X.

Bootcamp has been an interesting experiment but really I just don't see the point now. OS X + Parallels does everything I could want of a computer and by using it the way I do I shouldn't have problems with viruses. I really hate the feeling of impending doom I have whenever I do anything with Windows
