Viscosity has a detailed article to turn on the router's VPN. Unfortunately, I'm not able to connect. I'm given the following error:

Options error: The command "dhcp-option" or one of its parameters is invalid for this version of OpenVPN (2.4.4). Please edit the connection, make sure the command is valid, and try again.
2017-11-09 09:40:40: Full command: dhcp-option DNS 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

Any clues as to what the problem is?

Steve

Edit your .opvn file to eliminate references to name servers. Let the connection negotiation figure that out, and if it not to your liking, find out how to configure the OPVN server to assign correct name servers. If your OPVN server is "wrong" or not under your control, they you have to get with your IT personnel to resolve this.
