Geez... come on, people. What's with all the negativity? The store looks pretty cool in my opinion, and even if the sell the same products at all Apple stores, it's not too often one is able to visit such a large location that has been designed to attract visitors from across the globe.

Personally, I can't wait to check the place out next time I go to NY. Even if I'm there just to look at a giant glass cube, it's part of the exclusive retail experience that Apple brings that makes it totally worth it.

We didn't have time when my family and I went to NYC last summer. The bus driver said that they charged you $100 each person as entrance fee (ROFL). So everyone on the tour bus was like heck no, why do I want to go see some fugly glass cube?

Now come on… that is a bit harsh.

It really is just a harmless I.M. Pei rip-off by way of the Ka'bah… and therefore a perfect focus for pilgrimage by Mac zealots.


There are far worse examples of bad building design.

Unless of course you're Prince Charles and Poundbury is your benchmark of good contemporary design…

You can't call this bad building design because this isn't a building. It's just a doorway, for lack of a better description. The store itself is all underground, the cube is just the way you get in. I think it's brilliant.

I brought my iPod there last summer. First Apple product, and started my like for all things apple (I since then got an iMac and now I am looking at an iPhone)
Its a cool store. A little busy. The other New York store isnt as unique.

Been to NY many times and have seen it. It's a cool store and the glass stairway/elevator are interesting to see, but other than that the rest of the actual store is pretty standard, if a little busier than most stores. It's funny to see how many people go in the elevator just to use it since the majority of them could probably just take the stairs.
