Vista before 1.2, deleted EFI.

So I've had Vista dual-booting next to Tiger for a while now, never a problem (minus eject button, isight), never had to touch Boot Camp again. Until they update Boot Camp to 1.2 and now Boot Camp burns a better drivers disk. So I've downloaded the update. The full program actually, installed fine over my old one and now there's an error message:

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format the disk as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume.
Restore your information to the disk and try usuing Boot Camp Assistant again.

On the instructions I followed to get Vista on my computer I had to install Vista normally over XP and then it wasn't supposed to start up until I deleted the EFI partition. So I did that, and like i said, smooth.

Basically, do I have to replace the EFI partition to fix this mess? If so, how? Or can someone just put the updated drivers on the internet somewhere for me to download?

So are you trying to reinstall Vista entirely? Why don't you just install the new drivers?

If you get that error message, you need to do an archive+install of OSX...

you have to open boot camp so it can make the updated drivers disk.

but i can't open it because of this error. is there any way someone can iso their 1.2 vista drivers disk?

you can find the drivers disk image if you right click the boot camp assistant and select "show package contents". go to contents. go to resources. mount the disk image (called DiskImage.dmg). burn with Disk utility. Burn (the program called "Burn.app", not the feature of disk utility) crashed and made a messed up disk. Just use Disk Utility; don't fool around with other software.

If you really want me to, I guess i could create a torrent of the image...but i'm really too lazy

biiiit of a weird problem. went into my applications and did what you said but i was suspicious when i opened the disk image beacuse it only had "autorun.exe, autorun.inf, documentation (folder), and Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe". so i was like... no... vista... moron. so i did some browsing and went into my utilities folder, there's another Boot Camp Assistant (see my confusion?). i open it up and it has tons of files in it. some seem to be the ones mentioned in the 1.2 update. sooo that's probably it. but why would mac install one version into my apps and then the update into my utilities?

Hmm, it should always be in Utilities, did you possibly move the old one into Applications at some point?

The one with a lot of files is the one you're looking for. If you want, highlight the Boot Camp Assistant, press cmd+i, and check the version.

Don't burn the CD that has "Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe". You want the CD with "Macintosh Drivers for Windows.msi".
