Vista & Coherence?

Am I correct in thinking that you can run Vista off of a bootcamp partition using the coherence mode?

I am still currently a windows user looking to switch to a macbook pro (after the WWDC to see if any updates ), but occasionaly still use the PC for games (Hence Vista for the new game compatibility) and will probably still have some Windows apps that I will still need.

I would like to concentrate on using the Mac OS where possible, but would require a bit of time to switch over so this would be the ideal setup for me.

So, is this setup possible and if so, how would I set this up

You ARE confused in at least one respect ... coherence mode is the Parallels systems for running Windows programs without a Windows desktop appearing. Transporter is the program that lets you migrate an existing OS or boot camp installation into Parallels. At the moment Vista in Boot Camp DOES NOT WORK with transporter, but I think that will change very soon.

You can, however, migrate a Vista Boot Camp installation in VMWare, although EMC doesn't recommend it in the current build, it has some issues.

I am aware that Parallels does not work fully from a bootcamp partition with Vista, but all I want to be able to do is run some windows apps off of the Bootcamp partition, within OSX without actually having to have windows opened in a VM.

From Parallels website;
"Parallels is currently compatible with Boot Camp partitions running Windows XP. Development is underway to support Vista partitions. However, you can run your licensed version of Windows Vista in Coherence mode, which enables you to run your guest operating system without having to manage two desktops."

I suppose that I am looking at something like crossover, but that works with all windows software installed in the bootcamp partition. Crossover would have been ideal as I would only need to boot Vista for games that need it.
