Vista DVD wont boot and makes lots of noises

Hi all,

I have one of the black macbooks the one with 1G RAM, and 160 GB harddisk and 2.16 Ghz

I got the windows vista image, the trial version , burned it on a DVD, and it wont boot on my system, the CD drive makes lots of noises, so much that it got me concerned ,other DVDs works fine.

In the boot menu after pressing the Option Key it detects the DVD , but when i click on it , it all goes black and nothing happens, after like 20 mins it will eject the DVD.

So any suggestion what should i do ? I got the latest bootcamp and i am trying to install over my xp. The funny thing is that it booted right up on my brother macbook even though it is of lower specs.

Anyway please help me out?

I could be wrong, but I think that you can't install a trial version using BootCamp.

You'll need to get the complete version.

I installed Beta 2 and Release Candidate just fine on my Mac mini.

A bona fide full version of Microsoft Windows: XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2, WIndows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate. (No upgrade or multi-disc versions).

But again, I am not completely sure.

Alright then.

I do have personal experience installing both Vista Beta 2 and Release Candidate on my Mac mini. This was even before Apple had supported it.

Did you make the DVD on the same system that you're trying to install it on? Occasionally (rarely) you'll run into a compatibility issue between different drives. It's more likely that you have a dud disc, try making a new one.
