I upgraded my New Macbook Pro from XP to Vista. I am trying to do the exact same upgrade on my 08 Mac Pro and am getting an installation stop at 55%... I need help.

Could you be more specific?

It sounds like you bootcamped your macs with Windows XP, and are now trying to upgrade the XP with a Vista upgrade disk.

Hmmmm... you might run into problems there. Obviously it works, since it worked on the MacBook. But it is unsupported, as bootcamp requires a full version of the Operating System you are trying to install.

Maybe you could explain your situation in more detail, and document the steps you took on the Macbook, and also the Macbook Pro. It would be helpful to diagnose.

okay..I want Vista but only have the upgrade version, but I have the full version of XP. Took my macbook pro, installed XP then put in the disc for all the drivers, then put in the disk for vista upgrade, everything went well. Tried the same thing with my mac pro, but when Vista is installing it just stops at 55% and gives me an error message.

Also, on my macbook it would let me click get updates (before the install started) when i do that on my mac pro it says it couldnt get updates. If you click the other option, dont get updates, its says you could have installation trouble. (yes im connected to the internet)
