Hi All,

I have a brand new dual 2.8 quad core Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 connected to an Apple 17" studio display with the ADC - DVI Apple adapter. OSX 10.5.1.

I partitioned the disc with BootCamp, and moved to the next step of inserting Windows Vista Ultimate in the drive and continuing the installation. The machine reboots, i see a brief gray screen then the monitor goes black -the DVD spins for a while and then it stops and nothing.

Anybody else experience a similar issue? Any suggestions?

Neil

I'm actually having an extremely similar problem.

The only differences are that my Pro is a very late 2007 model, with an x1900.

Everything else, symptomatically speaking, is identical.

I've tried just about everything I can think of to try to get it to advance, as well sa attempting XP instead of vista. No luck at all.

I can only conclude that either I'm missing a step somewhere (I don't think so, as I printed the guide right from the apple site), or there is some other underlying issue that I just have no idea about.

Truly, if anyone out there can lend aid, i would be most appreciative.

First, sorry for the double post, second, I figured a workaround that works for me at least:

You have to use the DVI-VGA dongle in to get a display during the install process on some of these pros. Lord knows why, but I'm now up and running!

Hope it works for you as well!

blank screen with mac mini

I have the same problem with the installation using Leopard on a mac mini.
It worked under Tiger and then Leopard. But, since the update to 10.5.1 the mini does not boot any CDs/DVDs anymore to complete the installation.

Any ideas?

i got this to work.... (inevitable - thanks for the tip)

i was using the adc-dvi adapter to run my 17" studio display. i tried this using the dvi-vga adapter and an older NEC lcd monitor. first attempt it did not work - i then unplugged the usb cable that I had left plugged in from the dvi-adc adapter and had success. after installing the apple drivers i switched back to the 17" studio display and everything looks good.
