Was loading vista on my new Mac Pro and got through everything until loading drivers. Got to registering on install shield and then it reported a fatal error. I did make sure I had latest firmware before installing. Vista does work but it looks like I'm in safe mode with no driver for the video card. Any ideas on what else to try?

Vista is not supported. Having said that, I'm surprised that Vista didn't already include a video driver. Which video card do you have?
I have the standard NVIDA Geforce 7300 GT. In vista went to hardware manager and it seemed to get latest driver but after reboot still had same issue. (Reason I loaded vista is you can no longer buy consumer versions of XP except on ebay)

I'm not trying to yell at you or anything, but your comment doesn't actually help at all, because your MacBook contains completely video different hardware from a Mac Pro.
Your MacBook uses an Intel GMA 950, and it apparently works. My MacBook Pro uses an ATI X1600, and it works here too. However, the Mac Pro features an nVidia 7300, and that's the component that appears to be causing problems. Getting an Intel system working isn't actually of any help to an nVidia user
Don't use the installer instead extract the files and then install the drivers seperately and you will be fine it's something like D:\Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe /A /v
that will extract the files to a folder you specify.
