I played 7 hours of spore on vista, I found the save file on the pc verison. How can I transfer that same save file to the osx version and continue from there. It is already installed in leopard.

Thanks

where did you find the save files?

I'm in the same situation as you except using XP. Where did you find the save files on the PC? If I get it working I'll certainly let you know. Thanks.

its under c:\users\SN\app data\roaming\SPORE\

mac version I don't know where to put it. Also I'm running it on a aluminum black imac 2.8 with nvidia card, it actually fills the whole screen running it in vista, on osx it has a black bar all around that doesn't fill the whole screen.

Spore save file XP - OSX

Hi guys I've managed to transfer my save game from XP to OSX (not sure about vista).

Firstly in XP you need to view hidden files and folders.

Copy the folders found in "Documents & Settings/Administrator/Application Data/SPORE/Games" I had 2 folders called Game0 and Game0.old

In OSX these folders need to go in "User/Library/Preferences/SPORE Preferences/p_drive/User/Application Data/SPORE/Games"

This will now allow you to play the save game in OSX, however your custom creations like buildings, spaceships etc won't be there yet.

To copy these over-

In XP locate "My Documents/My Spore Creations"

copy all the folders and put them in "User/Documents/My Spore Creations" in OSX.

And there you go, all file copied over and you can enjoy Spore on your Mac.

For future reference, there is no standard location. Where I've found Mac Save Games:

*Home>Library>Application Support> Look for Game Folder
*Home>Library>Preferences> Look for Game Folder
*Home>Documents> Look for Game Folder
*Possibly in the Game Application folder itself.

reverse situation

I'm moving the saved files from Mac to PC. I've placed the files where it seems they should go based on this thread. The problem I am having is that my creations don't appear to be syncing with the saved game.

The saved game appears at the correct stage, but my creature and spaceship are not there. I did move the My Spore Creations folder -- so I don't know what more would need to be done to get them to appear. They also do not appear in the "My Creations" tab in Sporepedia unless I download the versions I shared -- the edit them, save them, etc.

Any ideas what I've done wrong? Is it just that the move from Mac to PC is not seamless?

Because you're not actually playing the exact same game, it will be in the list of everything in the game, but it will not be in your personal created list.

Interesting. I guess what would be helpful to know is what files (if more than one needs to be transfered) must be moved to transfer a game save-state from one computer to another.

This is exactly what I would like to know. How do I send my creations and the game save state from one computer to another?

EA can't assume that we will only play this on one computer...can they?

I was able to move my game and it's saved state by taking the entire SPORE folder from this path on my Mac:

User/Library/Preferences/SPORE Preferences/p_drive/User/Application Data/SPORE

I moved the entire SPORE folder to my PC and everything was there, in tact. Beware, it's a large folder. I needed to write the file to a large storage device to make the move.

Damn. I copied my saved creates and games from XP to Mac, but now when I start up I get Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x0blah at 0x0blah. I didn't get that before I copied the saves. I noticed that the files didn't have write access because I copied them from the NTFS drive so I gave them write access and the game at least started up, but I still get that Unhandled Exception when I click on my planet.
