Could someone please help me out here, I understand if you attempt to install vista oem you must format the entire drive. How could I install vista without removing os x or would i be able to install os x after vista with the recovery discs, so I would be able to choose what os to boot into. Thanks

You do NOT need to format the entire drive, ONLY partition it to an HFS (Mac) partition and a FAT32 or NTFS partition for Vista (Though I honestly don't know if Vista can install on FAT. I do know that the Mac cannot write to NTFS).

A partition is a logical drive, and for the purposes of OS's, logical & physical are the same thing. RAID and drive spanning require physical drives.

So, the one that Vista sees is all it needs to see, and all it thinks it sees. See? ;)
