I've used VisualHub for about a year now, and it has always worked fine. However, the past month I've had bad issues with it. Some files will convert fine, while most will only convert for 2 minutes then stop.

The files convert fine with HandBrake and MPEG Streamclip (although poorer quality for the same resolution and bitrate) and they playback fine too.

Just seems to be VisualHub that has this hiccup. It is a pity that it is no longer being produced. Anyone else experiencing this?

It is XviD avi files I'm converting, however some work. What has changed?!

I had the same problem. I tried uninstalling other codecs (eg perian) but it did not work.

What it finally did the trick was to open the file with quicktime and save it. This way a .mov file is created.. then used this file in visualhub and voila! no problems... full conversion with no audio out of synch

Did you have to re-encode it to save it as a .mov file?

Ahh awesome. Would be cool if there was an Apple Script combined with VisualHub to do this.

I assume it only takes a few seconds to do because these videos are MPEG4's inside an avi container? To save it as a .mov if it wasn't MPEG4 would result in it being re-encoded? Or have I got this wrong?

honestly I don't know... but i know that it works

Visual Hub Alternative

I too have had this problem with Visual Hub and as the software's author has withdrawn the software from the market I looked for an alternative.

For 50 USD I purchased 4Media Video Converter. So far all 10 .avi files that Visual Hub failed to process have been completed by 4Media Video Converter.

Visual Hub was only 23 USD. C'est la vie.
