Seriously though, it's beautiful. Far beyond what I'd be willing to pay for ANY smartphone, but I'm glad to see it becoming a reality. (I'll wait until my no-contract carrier offers it for $150)

Looks nice. I wonder if the chin is wider than current notches on other phones. It just seems like we are trading a notch for a chin. Although I do like it, and would rather have a small chin because it truly disappears. I wonder what the cost will be and if it will have the screen FP sensor.

Actually I just don't see how this chin could be called something else than just a small one. Even the iPhone X haves a chin but it's more hidden because of the bigger bezels all around.

This is awesome! No notch too! A screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent.

Basically, the Vivo Nex is a bleeding-edge device designed for anyone who wants the most legitimately bezel-free phone possible at this moment in time. The obvious caveat is that it’ll only be available in China, priced at 4,998 yuan (about $780) for the high-end model, which is a lot cheaper than the 8,316-yuan iPhone X but more expensive than a local flagship like the 2,699-yuan Xiaomi Mi 8. But Vivo is actually making this thing, and that's reason enough to dream about the notchless future. We're looking forward to seeing how well it works out in reality.

We'll need to see the specs & photo quality of that pop-up front facing camera first.

^Speaking with the majority of the 'selfie' market in mind, as phone makers aim to please them as a priority.

I'm not a big selfie taker, so it wouldn't bother me if the popup camera's of decent quality or sub-par. More concerned of its mechanical longevity & whether it can be relied upon to work without getting jammed in the near future.

Why? Do you do that to the phone that have a notch? The quality of the pictures it takes has nothing to do with this phone being innovative enough to have a almost 92% display to body ratio and in display FPS. They were innovative enough to accomplish that without a notch.

I'm saying that by having a notch, you can still have a quality front facing camera, which appeals to a large market.

If vivo have managed to have a decent enough camera in the popup (ie. not compromised a feature many value) then good on them.

The mechanical camera is the concern. I wouldn’t want to pay so much money for a phone with an obvious moving part that will fail sooner than latter, on a Vivo branded phone to boot. I’d rather have the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

The in-screen fingerprint sensor means you don't need the popup camera to log in, which will prolong its mechanical life, unlike the Oppo Find X, whose popup camera will be used every time you want to log in.

It's not just the popping in and out. It's about stuff getting into the crevices, the phone getting hit when the camera is opened, etc. So many risks, and for what? Furthermore, it is way overpriced for a Vivo. I'd rather go with the Mi Mix if getting the most screen to body ratio without a notch is very important.

Yeah it's good that there are options. I'm liking this progress in design. It may not be ideal, but it gives every phone manufacturer something to think about & potentially use in their own future iterations.
