Hi, i've been having a little problem with vlc 0.7.1 and the new 0.7.2. Basically whenever i first start vlc it causes my PB to freeze for a few seconds before starting playing video. My specs are:
PB G4 1.33Ghz, 1Gb ram, 80Gb HD, Running Panther 10.3.3. At the moment ive tried downgrading vlc through every version back to 0.6 and disabling any nonstandard softwares running ie. Ape haxies, synergy etc. but it still freezes. It's extremely annoying problem so i hope someone can help thx.

My problem is that it crashes all sound output from my computer. One forum member said I should check to see if it reassigned my audio output device, but I'm pretty sure it went beyond that. I switched to MPlayer OS X. Works just fine.

According to the VersionTracker discussions and my own experience, astray's problem is a common one. This is a bug in VLC so there's nothing to fix. This happens only to the first file opened after launching VLC. If you close the file and open it again it will play perfectly.

Ah, i didn't check the versiontracker comments, I DL'ed straight off the vlc site. I thought maybe it was somethign wrong on my end. I guess ill have to put up with it since vlc is a really great app otherwise. Thx for the help,

Are you sure you don't have dodgy RAM or something, I don't get that problem on my PowerBook and it is the same as yours, besides the RAM. I got the standard 256MB from Apple, then got another 256MB from Crucial (512Mb total).
