VLC, QuickTime and PS3

I have a movie file, but it doesn't work with QuickTime or my PS3 (corrupted data). However when I play it with the VLC player it works.
Is there a way I can get it to play on the PS3?

Is it a tagged file (metatags)? My PS3 has problems playing .m4v files that I tagged, streaming via PS3 Media Server.

I've found very little it won't stream, although it has trouble with HD wmvs sometimes.
