I have accounting programs that require XP, so jumped on Bootcamp as soon as it became available and liked the option of XP on a Mac. Six months ago I switched to VMware Fusion, which I really liked, especially not having to re-boot.

What are the benefits / major reasons for using both together ?

If sometimes you need all the resources of the computer, like gaming you need boot camp. Then when virtualization is fine, you can just use Fusion. This combo uses the same amount of space since they share a partition.

Using Fusion with a bootcamp partition results in faster disk access (not to mention giving you the option to boot into Windows natively for faster performance)
