I'm investigating setting up a virtualized 10.5 Server using VMWare on the same machine as my existing 10.5 server. Considering using the virtual machine to handle Open Directory, so it can be very easy to wipe it and start over if I need to blow Keberos away or something like that. But was wondering about the license restrictions - can I virtualize the install on the same server as the actual OS is running without both legal issues or conflicts with the serial number? Or would I have to purchase an entire new Leopard server license to virtualize it.

Thanks!

If you use the same serial number on the network, the second Leopard install will detect it, and inform you that it's already in use, and disable the server config in Server Admin

Ugh, kind of figured that was the case. Always the tricky issue with virtualization. Thanks for the response though.
