hello, i setup vmware fusion today with xp. i was very surprised how easy it was, my only problem is that i have 40 gigs reserved for xp.. does this mean that there is a separate partition? i only need xp to use a maximum of 10 gigs. i tried changing it under the hard disk setting but it states that 40 gigs is the minimum, can someone please help? thanks in advance!

If you did not use Boot Camp Assistant and you are only using VMware, then "no" you do not have a separate partition.
Go to your user folder -> documents -> virtual machines
This will show you how much disk space your virtual machine is using
Or you can run something like Grand Perspective to see how your disk space is utilized
