VMWare Fusion & Linux

I know this is the Windows forum but the reason I am posting HERE is that the wealth of information here concerns virtual machines and isn't really matched by other parts of the forum.

I've accessed my Windows 7 partition but would now like to branch back into Linux territory. I was hoping to hear from your experiences, tips & tricks, etc. with virtual machines, both with Windows 7 and other OSes through VMWare Fusion.

Even though I have 4 GB of RAM, should I utilize a 64 bit VM or is it worthless since the VM isn't given enough?

Which Linux builds will give me the most drivers and performance otb?

Has anyone tried Crunchbang! or Mint in VM?

I run Windows 7 RC 64 bit in a VM with Fusion and it works well
It makes Vista seem pathetic

I also have Ubuntu installed in a VM
Installation was flawless and painless

MacDawg - I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 in VMware Fusion. I am trying to install the VMware tools. When I click on the script it opens in text editor. How do I run the script. The VMware tools ISO disk on the desktop opens in folders. I followed instructions on the VMware support site and selected the box to make the file executable. It still opens in text editor. Thanks!

What I did was Google VMware Tools installation for Ubuntu
You have to do it from the terminal, but it walks you through

Once installed it made a world of difference

Don't know why I didn't think of google search. I did it, found some great scripts, and had VMware Tools installed in 10 minutes. It DID make a world of difference.
