im currently installing VMWARE Fusion on my macbook pro (17", 2.33gz c2d, 2gb ram)...i am wondering will i get to play my games that i cant play in parallels...?

It currently has DirectX 8 support, with 9 on the way, so it will play quite a few, but not all, of your games...Parallels on the other hand does not support DirectX, which is needed for many (especially more recent) games...

hmm...thanks...im not sure if this changes anything but i downloaded the beta....?

You want the beta, the final release (or maybe even a future beta) will have DirectX 9 support, they showed it in a video, but did not release it...

thanks for all ur help...

hmm...its there anyway to run DirectX9 in OSX....i know i can through boot camp...but can i run it through a virtual machine in OSX?

beta 2 is the latest VMware fusion that is available for public release.

Regarding DX, the games listed in their release notes are the ones that are proven to have worked. I tried a few more, some worked and some didn't.

The Direct3D test works, as does 3dmark01.

VMware claim that DX9 is planned for another future release - obviously to run Vista and its aero interface. But for now, with the beta 2, you should be able to play some DX8 games inside OSX without rebooting.
