VNC Lite Help!!

i am a student who stay in a uni hall and i am using the school internet, i am trying to use VNC to access my imac though internet, but it is not working, but if i use my own wireless (from imac) it can be connected and work perfectly. Do u think it is the problem of my hall or my setting is wrong??
