Don't step into the kawoosh...
Well i finally got mine figured out and working so i mentioned it to a friend and now he wants to do the same thing on his winodws machines.

Since i am not familiar with windows enough to suggest a good product i figured i would ask some people that might know.

What is a good Server program to use and what is a good client to use. I am using OSXvnc and chicken on my two macs and it is working good. So what do i need to suggest for my friend??

Thanks

I've always used http://www.realvnc.com

However, if the machine you want to control is XP Pro, the built in Remote Desktop is much better.

To add to that...you can go to www.mactopia.com and download Remote Desktop for OS X as well and use that to take control of PCs.

The good thing about VNC is that its OS independent. You can use it with Windows 98-XP, Linux, and Mac OS X. Each platform can see each others screen. So for example, you can see a Mac OS X screen from a Windows 98 computer, or Linux computer, etc...

Use this link for Real VNC: http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/download.html

You don't have to fill the form out if you don't want to.

Yeah, I forgot to mention the Mac client. I use it all the time now. Hope they come up with an Intel port soon.

Note: The client side of RDP is pretty open/cross platform too. http://www.rdesktop.org/ http://properjavardp.sourceforge.net/

That is true...but as far as I know, you can't use those apps to take control of a Mac from a PC or Linux workstation like you can with VNC. So its like half platform independent. Now I don't know if he's trying to do that anyways, but I thought I'd just mention that.
