Vocals out of sync

As I'm recording vocal in GB the sound in tempo but when I play back it get bumped every so slighly and sounds of tempo. Ii wonder if it's a buffer issue because I'm using a weak mac for GarageBand standards, TiBook 667.

Anyone else have this issue?

I'm on a iBook 500 mhz and have definitely had some latency issues. However, I've found a few tricks to get around it (overall the program seems pretty touchy and seems to behave differently every time I open it). First, if you're using iMic, try running the output through iMic (for some reaon this seems to reduce latency). Second, change the settings in the audio/midi setup. Even if you have it on the correct setting, set it incorrectly, and then set it back. Weird, but it seems to work with me. Finally, change the setting in GB to the G4 performance setting. I'm on a G3, and that setting's working much better for me (but then I don't use the GB sounds at all).

I'll give those tricks a try. Also, When I plug my mic directly into iMic, I get a very weak, almost an inaudible signal so I go through an amp then out the headphone output to the iMic. Another weird thing, before I got the iMic, I just used a generic splitter to plug headphones and mic into and my headphones were acting has a Mic. I wasn't getting much (if any) sound through the mic but My headphones were picking it up so I could actually hear and record through the headphones only. I know I should eventually just bite the bullet and pick up a nice preamp with XLR & 1/4 inputs.

I do alot of recording in Logic express, both my own band and alot of friends who want me to produce demo`s for them.
At first i used the iMic wich was ok. Then i advanced to an emagic audio interface(USB), which was better, but as i got more used to the software i wanted lower latency and more options, so i cashed ut for the m-audio FW410 audio interface. It has no latency when recording through a mic (XLR). I think this audio interface wil improve the latency in Garage Band just as it did logic. So i`m telling you. Get it, and never look back. Its super.

NEW:
Today i got ilife and tried garageband: i tested it with both the M-Audio 410 and the imic. The iMic produces alot of static and weird noises when i record guitar. When i use the 410 there are no sounds exept the ones you want to hear. Also, no latency, but this is also because i have the settings on g4. i tried the g3 settings when using the imic. it didn`t help. awful noises. So i recomend the g4 settings for anyone with a g4 or a g3 with ALOT of memory. And if your iMic is giving you a hard time, shell out for firewire audio. ALOT better.
