Vodafone 3G cards and Macs

Hi

I am serious about upgrading my 12"PB G4 and XP lappy to a MB or MBP. In all honesty the MB seems great for my needs. The only major problem I have is that I have not found a way to pair my vodafone GPRS pcmcia card with a mac. If anyone can come up with a solution I will be very grateful. Thanks Nipper.

Putting aside the fact that I don't know if these cards actually work with OS X, the iBook and the MacBook that replaces it do not have any form of expansion slot.

Also, Apple have done away with the PCMCIA slot on the MacBook Pro in favour of the newer ExpressCard/34 slot. If you need to use a GPRS card you will have to either somehow do it via a mobile phone over bluetooth or wait for ExpressCards to become available and buy a MBP.

Or of course you can buy a PowerBook, which does have a PCMCIA slot.

How the heck do I connect wirelessly using my phone?

I'm an utter novice on the mac (have had it a whole week)...and wanted to go online when I was out and about. Figured the Type II cards 3G cards wouldn't work thanks to the new design card slot, but then tried to get my V600i Sony Ericsson to talk to the MBP. Have tried a few tweaks but no luck. Any suggestions? The software by Nova Media won't hack it on the Intel Macs. So....anyone got any thoughts?? or has anyone found a good deal for Pay as you go wireless surfing? It seems a wee bit harsh to shell out a fiver for Sip n Surf/T-Mobile/BT.

I have no experience with connecting via GPRS so I'm afraid I won't be much help to you there. A quick Google turned up a couple of pages that might be of use though.
