Vodafone UK Carrier Settings Update now available in iTunes

As of Friday 4th December, UK iPhone users who are using the Vodafone network will be offered a Carrier Settings Update when they plug their iPhone into iTunes.

This update is for Vodafone UK contract Pay Monthly customers and not Pay As You Go customers.

The carrier settings update you to Vodafone 5.1 (Settings, About, Carrier).

One thing the update brings is that the word Vodafone fits perfectly next to the reception indicator without having to scroll. Internet Tethering is not supported.

All this comes ahead of Vodafone UK officially selling the iPhone in Early 2010.

I put my Vodafone PAYG sim in and got the update. Everything works fine for me, even without following Vodafone's advice to change the carrier settings from wap to pp.

So to clarify.

Does these new settings mean that MMS/browsing/data will automatically work ok.

Reason I ask is because my iphone was unlocked about 2 wks ago. I put my vodafone contract sim in & all worked fine.

Great I thought , however then realised that the camera icon was not there next to the text field & I could not send or receive pictures. Then realised could not connect to internet or indeed receive emails. Message kept informing me that I was not connected to cellular data network.

Phoned Vodafone however every person I spoke to was not very helpful as they were not ' officially ' selling the iphone yet.

Does this update now hopefully sort this ?

Yes the Carrier Update puts Vodafone UK internet and MMS settings onto your phone.

I downloaded the new carrier file for the iphone off itunes.

Indeed it now adds the mms & web browsing settings , however unfortunately it doesn't add any settings for Visual Voicemail.

Does anyone know whether Vodafone will support VV.

Vodafone have no plans to support Visual Voicemail on the iPhone.

Does anyone using Vodafone have an issue with the eBay app when using 3G?

I'm pretty sure i saw it somewhere before, but can't remember where.

I'm constantly getting errors, swap in my o2 sim and everything is fine as is the case with wifi.
