I have just discovered that you can dial*08 from the dial pad on iPhone and sign up for voice calling. You can store up to 2000 numbers and it is available for online updating. The charge is $4.99 per month. I hope this is helpful for anyone that may have been disappointed in the lack of voice dialing.

Heh... MARA, I was a little concerned as a newbie with 3 posts, that you might have been playing a practical joke on people who didn't know what *08 would cause to happen for phones on AT&T. :) Checks out though!

Accessing VoiceDial for the First Time

1. Dial *8 (or *08) from your wireless phone.
2. To hear a VoiceDial demonstration, say "play demo" at the main menu. You can also say "help" for instructions on getting started.
3. For detailed voice commands, read the Tasks & Tips.

Entering Contact Information

The VoiceDial website lets you:

1. Add, edit, and remove contacts.
2. Import contacts from Yahoo!, Outlook®, and other email programs.
3. Convert contacts you've added by voice into text entries, to improve recognition.

Only valid 10-digit U.S. phone numbers, including area code, may be dialed from VoiceDial.
Add, edit, and remove contacts

Store as many as 2000 contacts on the web with up to four numbers each:
* Work
* Wireless
* Home
* Other
Sorry to doubt. :D I don't think I like the idea of an address book for "voice dialing" that's totally separate from the one in the phone. --And a whole other service fee on top... yech. :eek:
