Is there a way to use voice commands and recognition with my macbook pro without having to use keys? Like if it were sitting on a desk with the screen off I could say something to wake it then say "Open chrome" and it'd open the browser?

For a start maybe take a read of this Apple webpage.
BTW, I found this in a second by asking your question in Google.
Yea I read and tried that then realized it wasn't what I was looking so came here and wrote a post detailing what I was looking for. Again, "If it were sitting on a desk with the screen off I could say something to wake it then say "Open Chrome" and it'd open the browser.

Having to be sitting at the computer with the screen on and double tapping the FN key to then say a command defeats the point of me controlling it from my couch.
