I am trying to use the Voice Recognition on my iPhone 4S for texting. After I speak, the 3 purple bubbles show up as if they're processing what I just said and then they go away and nothing is written in the text field.

Siri still recognizes my voice just fine and I have already tried to update my iPhone, restart my iPhone, and restore my iPhone and nothing is working.

I greatly appreciate any and all assistance in this matter.

I have this happen a lot when I either have a weak signal, if apples servers are being crappy or if I am in an extremely loud environment (like walking along a busy road and an 18-wheeler just drove past as I was saying something).

There has been entire days that it did that....so that was on apples side.

You're not alone. That service died about 90 minutes ago for me, and a few others as well. There's a thread in the main iPhone forum about it. Siri works fine, dictation doesn't. The general consensus is that it's server-side, and the best thing to do for now is wait it out.

Here too. Ironically we're both in Columbus, Ohio. Could be our area or a link to their servers?

Well as long as its server-side/connection issues, I don't mind as much anymore. I was just worried that it was my iPhone.

While I'm not worried it is annoying. Mine seems to work only about 30% of the time the past two weeks.

Voice Recognition

I tried turning Siri off then back on and the voice recognition started working again. Not sure if coincidence but worth a try.

I turned Siri off and then back on, and that fixed my speech to text problem. Thanks cbrolaw!:)

Here in UK, VR not working

New phone, worked fine for a few days, now nothing. The symbols come up, and then it ‘thinks’ but then leaves a blank. Does this with texts, messages and tweets. Any ideas gratefully received

I live in Rochester NY. Siri works, dictation doesn't

PS Just read the posts above, disabled then re-enabled Suri. Voice-to-text working again.
