Hi,

Does anyone know of a voice translator app that will transalte English to Spanish by speaking not typing??

Thank you,

olimits7

There was a video of this type of app a while back. It was designed for the military I think? All i remember was a big red button and the person spoke in Arabic and it translated to English, or he spoke in English and it translated into Arabic. One or the other.

I don't remember the name or when/if it was coming out to the public.

that's awesome!

Wow, just looked at the website of that company.

That app is totally awesome, speech-recognition translation and speech output without the need for an internet connection.

I never thought that THIS might be possible on a phone...

That's not really true...
None of those does speech recognition, only "Jibbigo" does that.

You can really speak to your iPhone, it will recognize it and directly translate the result.

I have not seen that anywhere else,
and even all those translators need internet connection to use Google Translate.

This one even works offline.

the company has a video under:

That's amazing if it really works as flawlessly as it does in the video demonstrations. I might just buy this. Although I'm going to wait until it has a few ratings first....

I like it the "Jibbigo" thingy!
It is not perfect, sometimes you have to try a few times to get your voice recognized, and translations are not 100% perfect, but in most of the cases it translates the meanings. And having it running on a 3gs, its speed is ok.

So for me it is a really great tool, since it really has value for me.

this Jibbigo app actually really works! not always perfect, but after a few tries or after I reformulate what I try to say it gets it ..... it runs locally on the iPhone (it does not need a connection to a server, like google translate or something) -- this is great!! And the speed is also ok on the 3GS, but a bit slow on my older ipod touch. I really think its worth its money!! Can't wait to see more languages for this app!!

Saw it on tv...

Hi,

just wanted to mention, that this Jibbigo was on TV two days ago (I think it was sci-channel).

Really cool thing.

I hope they continue building such a thing for other languages as well.
