Hi all, long time reader who used to have an account (maybe it's been deleted) back with a problem:

The Visual Voicemail (and any voicemail for that matter) is not working on my 3G iPhone or my wifes first gen. My only thought is that I messed something up when I switched to the leaked version of 2.0 on Thursday. I recall it not working (the voicemail) after I upgraded to 2.0 on my old phone. Then, Friday, when I got home with my new 3G, I restored it using my settings from my old one (obviously) and synced it up, then I noticed today that my voicemail isn't working. Even more odd is that my wife's first gen iPhone, that is now running the proper 2.0 after a full restore, AND gets synced on a totally different computer, is also having the EXACT issue that I am with a non-working voicemail. When you click the button for voicemail it doesn't even take you to the screen, it just highlights the button and stays on whatever phone tab you were in. Very odd. I've searched the net and haven't found a single matching issue. I'm pretty annoyed, as I don't want to make the one hour trip to an Apple store tomorrow.

Any ideas?

I've got the same with my 3G phone. Though mine is more finicky because it won't always even recognize that I've touched the VV button and will often not even highlight VV. I've got an appointment at the Genius Bar on Monday morning for a design issue I have with the phone and will bring that up as well. I'll let you know if they have any advice on the VV end..

I had the same problem. In my case resetting the voicemail password by calling ATT fixed the problem.

Yeah, I called 1-800-4MY-iPhone and talked to someone. They thought it was odd that my wife and I were BOTH having the same issue on two different phones, synced from two different computers, they're sure it's an AT&T issue. I just don't see it like that, because even if it WAS AT&T, there is no reason the phone itself shouldn't be going to the screen for VV. I also have an appt with the genius bar, mine is tomorrow morning, first thing. We'll see how it goes.

yep u just have to reset your voicemail password and mine popped back up to visual VOiCEmail

Ok, cool, thanks. I'll call up AT&T now and see if they can do that for me.

it's automated when you call ATT. Don't have to talk to a person during business hours. I think it's option 3 on their phone tree.

Wow, great info guys, it worked like a charm. Got my voicemail up and running now, thanks.

I thought it was odd that we would both have the same issue, on totally different phones, and synced with different computers. Thanks again.

I'm convinced your issue is the same as mine was. Call 1-800-331-0500 (AT&T support), select option 1, then option 3, and lastly option 3 again. You'll need your billing zip code. They'll send you a text message with a new VM password (which you don't need), and instantly your VV button on the phone app will work fine. You'll need to set up your voicemail (which then asks you to create a password), and your'e all set. Hope you read this before Monday, so you don't waste a trip.
