Voicemail Recording Problem

I'm trying to record my custom greeting, I have Custom selected, but when I hit record, nothing happens. Anyone have an idea of what's going on, or if there is a way to reset the voicemail and start over?

So I reset it to factory defaults to try and fix it, but I didn't know that this pretty much deactivates the phone, and it now says Activate iPhone - connect to iTunes on the screen now. it better not make me do this whole thing over again. And oh yeah, I can't connect to the store right now.

Has anyone done a factory reset yet and can confirm that when you do a restore, it puts your number back on the phone and everything?
