How is it that voicemail and transcription are still an awful mess?

It still takes multiple taps and attempts to simply listen to a voicemail. It's a whole dance of tapping, lifting to listen, checking that it's playing, tapping again, missing part of the message, scrubbing back, etc.

Do others struggle with this as well? Is it just me? Am I the only person who still uses voicemail?

Not quite directly related to iOS voicemail, but more along the lines of your last question, I switched to using Google Voice for voicemail (after using YouMail for a while before that).

Is there any way to disable the translation feature yet? It's really frustrating having to wait 5 minutes to open a voice message so that the stupid translator could fail at it's job...

The only issue I have with voicemail is that after a major iOS upgrade it's disabled for some reason. I have to reset network settings to get it to work again (it started with iOS 9 iirc). Other than that it does what I need...

Wow, another person on this planet who does the same thing I do. Very cool! Yes, I use Google Voice for my voicemail too. Love it. I listen to all my voicemail on my computer if the voice to text translation isn't good enough, which most of the time it is.

I wish there were, but there’s apparently no way to opt out of this.
