I was hoping somebody could give me a hand with this problem.

Cbs has released an app that will allow users to stream the NCAA basketball games on their phones. It will only stream over WIFI. I do not have WIFI at work so I was hoping i could use Voipover3G to trick the app. Does Voip have the capability to fool any app?

And can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial on how to edit the plist to include that March Madness app. I am not very knowledgeable on the subject.

Thanks

Just going to ask this as well, Don't know if it will work, been trying to find the app bundle identifier for the march madness app to add to the voipover3G plist. This would be great if it would though.

It might be:

com.mobitv.marchmadnessapp2009

Need to cinfirm this though
If you wouldnt mind could you post your findings if you get anywhere with it. This is about the only thing i could think of but i have almost no experience with some of the necessary steps such as SSHing.

I basically found the app after I ssh'ed into my phone called live games.app, pulled out the info.plist and found the above app bundle information. I then pasted it into the voipover3G plist and ssh'ed it back over, games won't start till Thursday so hopefully it will work, am hoping that I have the proper app bundle as so am only moderately experienced in modifying strings and such

I was going to give this a try tomorrow. Would you mind giving me your email in case i have questions?

This is how I found it as well and got the same identifier, FWIW. (com.mobitv.marchmadnessapp2009)

Not having any trouble connecting on 3g/Edge, although theres really no way to test it out since there is no video on the app yet. Hoping it will work.

Not working for me. I added the string. It still says I need wifi for video.

Did you actually try to at least listen. When I start the app, I get that same you must be on wi-fi message to get video, even when I'm connected on wi-fi. But video does come out. I haven't tried voipover3g though...I'm just not familiar enough on how to use it.

just signed up to say ive been workin on the same thing for well over an hour and a half.. still havent been able to do anything

Okay Folks, I May have found the solution. Before I did this, I was unable to use Voipover3g for anything on my newly Jailbroken 2.2.1 iphone.

After using this method, I am able to use Ustream (.TV) which is a wifi only app on 3G. I of course, am not able to test NCAA live until tonight!

credit goes to spotdog13 on hackint0sh forums.

Steps:

1.) Uninstall VoipOver3g (if you already had it installed)
2.) Install "Backward Compatibility" from Cydia
3.) Reinstall VoipOver3g
4.) Edit the VoipOver3g Playlist as you were trying earlier.

I have not confirmed adding the plist string from live games works, in order to insure my best odds of it working tonight while I am only on 3G, i simply removed the voipover3g playlist using ssh, which unlocks ALL apps. After doing this, again I confirmed it worked on the one app i could test (ustream).
