Hi folks,

My original iPhone (16GB) today randomly got stuck today. The button is stuck as if I were holding down the 'up' half of the button. I've tried to dislodge it but no luck. Wondering if anyone has had this problem and if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

My iPhone did this once, but apparently it was having delusions of grandeur. Have you tried restarting the phone? (Sorry for such a useless suggestion, as you likely have). If you haven't, though, try that, because it worked when mine was glitching out like that.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying but restarting the phone doesn't help the fact that the button is physically stuck in a depressed position, if that makes sense.

If the actual button itself is depressed into the phone then you need to take it to the Genius bar and have it replaced. I think the post almost made it sound like the buttons function was stuck, not the button itself, which has happened to me, where a reset solved the problem.

Yeah, the physical button is actually stuck down in this case.

I am going see if it bugs me over the next few days, I'd like to wait on a replacement until the next gen iPhone which I hear may be arriving this summer.

Anyone know what the process is for repair/replacement if I take this in, since it's out of warranty?

Just take it in. Depending on how nice/understanding the Genius you deal with is, just explaining to them what happened may be able to get you a replacement, as long as they don't believe you purposely damaged the phone.

Also, about the earlier post, I thought the same thing as appleisgod. I had a problem where the phone thought it was depressed, I didn't realise the button was actually physically depressed, so sorry about the bum advice :)
