Hello everyone. So I've always had a particular quirk with all of my iPhones. When I listen to my music while I drive (with the headphones on and windows down in my car...dam AC is broken) I pretty much always have the audio fully maxed out. So whenever I finally stop listening (like when I reach my destination) I never turn down the audio. I'm either rushing around cause I'm late for work or rushing cause I have a lot of stuff to take care of so I quickly close the music app. Or maybe I'll get a phone call while listening and driving at the same time which pauses the music, and low and behold, during this call I'll reach my destination. Either way, the audio is accidentally still on 100% more times than it's not.

So now whenever I go to play a game or do anything that involves audio later on, the app's audio is at 100%. Once I open an app, I quickly remember that I need to turn down the volume. I'll immediately start spamming the volume down button but it thinks I'm trying to turn down my ringer volume! It doesn't turn down the app's volume until the audio actually starts playing. Since this is the only "quirk" I have with my phone, it drives me bananas!

So I'm wondering if there are any options so that once I open an app and before any audio starts to play, when I press the volume down button my phone will recognize the fact I have an app open and therefore will turn down its volume as opposed to the ringer volume. It seems as though the phone only distinguishes between ringer volume and app audio once audio is actually playing. Otherwise it always assumes I want to turn down my ringer volume. Is there any way I can have my volume buttons lower audio instead of the ringer volume when I have an app open on my screen even if no audio is currently playing? Or is my only solution to remember to turn down the audio the moment I'm done listening to it so that the next time I put my headphones on, I won't blow out my eardrums with unexpected 100% maxed out volume haha.

Thanks for any feedback!

I think if you go into the sounds menu in Settings, then you can say "change volume with buttons" which should do what you are hoping. My only other idea would be to quickly double click the home button to bring up the multitasking tray, swipe to the right, and lower the volume there.

I will say, I often have the issue that the volume won't lower while an app is opening due to CPU lag...

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response. Yea I'm aware of that "change volume with buttons" toggle. I always left it on because I liked having the ability to adjust the ringer and notification volume with the buttons. But I'm glad you mentioned this because for a while now I've left my ringer on mute. If its gonna be on mute all the time, I might as well disable the volume buttons from being able to adjust the ringer volume at all.

I'll try this out for a while and if it works I'll be so happy. Thanks for mentioning that setting. This might just work for me!
