I've just run the verify disk option within disk utility for my PB harddrive and get the following messages at the end:

- Volume Header needs minor repair and
- Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit.

I have the following questions:
1) What does this mean?
2) Is it serious?
3) How can I repair it? (btw disk utility does not give me the option to repair it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks...

try to boot on the install dvd of your pb and then choose in the menu the Disk utility. Then, run the check again, it'll surely repair your filesystem.

I've upgraded from 10.3 to 10.4 so shoudl I use the original PB install dvd (based on 10.3) or one of the upgrade 10.4 disks?

Not done this before so I want to make sure I do the right thing.

Yes do this.

If this step does not fix your HD, then you will need to proceed to more serious fixes.
