Volume Indicator in iOS11

So according to the Verge, the biggest change in iOS11 what the VOLUME INDICATOR... stating "The volume indicator no longer obstructs the center of the screen obnoxiously."

After updating my iPhone I see no difference on this indicator... any one could tell me if I am wrong? Is this something included or not?

I see no difference, either. It’s right smack in the middle of the screen.
