You'll probably see a few posts from me as I just got my first Mac today, but here's one Google isn't helping me with. Are the volume settings for Macbooks low in general? I ask because I'm listening to iTunes through my headphones with iTunes set at full volume and while the sound is loud, it's not as loud as my iPod goes. Is there a "master volume" control (somewhat similar to Windows sound properties)? Thanks in advance!

Well, the "Master Volume" would be in System Preferences.
System Preferences > Sound (last icon in Hardware section)
When you open up "Sound" you'll notice the output volume at the botton.
You can check off a box there as well to put the volume on the menubar.
Also, you can control the volume using F3, F4, and F5 using your keyboard.
But even at max, the volume from the Macbook isn't that loud.
You might want to get yourself some external speakers for when the Macbook is on your desktop.
