Hi all,

just wanted to see if anybody has a solution regarding my VPN-problem... I'm a new Mac-user on an MBA running 10.8, and I've configured a PPTP VPN to my corporate intranet. I can connect, but I get disconnected after about a minute. During that minute the VPN works fine, but then it drops.

This is the log;

PPTP received unexpected message type = 6699
Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : PPTP error when reading socket : EOF
Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : PPTP error when reading header : read -1, expected 12 bytes

Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : MPPE disabled
Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : Connection terminated.
Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : PPTP clearing port-mapping for en0

Wed Aug 15 23:14:23 2012 : PPTP disconnected

The WiFi is working fine after the 2 fixes to add a new location and decrease MTU, but I'm still thinking this may be connected to the WiFi interface since I'm running Windows under Parallels, and the Windows VPN is setup the same and I get the same behaviour: it connects and then disconnects after about a minute.

A second Win laptop I'm migrating from has no issue connecting using the same settings.

Any ideas?

Update: tried setting my router to 11n-only mode, and the VPN didn't go down in 15 minutes, but then my iPad 2 couldn't connect. Set the router to 11g-only mode and another trouble free 15 minutes.

Going to leave the VPN up for the rest of the night (CET) and see what the logs say tomorrow, not sure if my router is buggy or the WiFi drivers are...

Ok, seven hours later and the VPN hasn't dropped, guess I found out the problem, hope I might have helped someone else experiencing the same thing.

Another update :) The problem went away with setting my Dlink DIR-655 to N or G only mode, and I managed to get it to work with N only by enabling WMM. Now all iOS devices connect as well as my laptop, and the VPN seems stable.

Just figured I'd share if someone ever has the same problem...
