Is anyone else seeing kernel panics after upgrading Ventura to 13.5.1 or above on their 5,1?

A while back, I migrated to OCLP 0.6.8 on my cMP5,1. Performed a fresh install of Ventura 13.5 to my NVME with OCLP on its EFI. Prior to this, the machine ran fine on Monterey using the same hardware and it ran fine on the Ventura w/ OCLP. About when I installed 13.5.1 was when I started getting kernel panics after prolonged uptime. System became unresponsive, entire interface froze or displays wouldnt wake. Only recovery was to force a shutdown from the power button. There were no substantial changes to the setup, no change in hardware or OCLP and the panics persisted through 13.5.2. SMC reset, PRAM reset, rebuild OCLP, all failed to fix it. Each panic was caused by the same process in VTDecoderXPCServ related to the AMDRadeonX4000 extensions. Partial snip below, full panic attached.

Is anyone else seeing kernel panics after upgrading Ventura to 13.5.1 or above on their 5,1?

Hi,

i have a iMac 27 mi 2011 with change graphic card for a WX4130 (display as RADEON Polaris ) with Ventura 13.6.1 OCLP 0.6.8 (same problem with OCLP 1.2.1) , I have the same Kernel Panic with my iMac frozen

Have you find a solution ?

Thank for your help

In OCLP I disabled the Feature Unlock option. That seems to keep the system more stable. But it can be a coincidence too.

Is there a GPU that's compatible with cMP5,1 that's supported without root patching?
The problem isn't GPU, but CPU.

Lack of AVX2 is the reason why need to patch the GPU driver. No matter which GPU you install, this is unavoidable. And that's why I personally won't recommend people to run Ventura or Sonoma on cMP unless they really need to do so (or just for testing purpose).

Ah, yes. Thanks.

Wondering if there was ever a solution to this as I am experiencing the exact same thing. MP5,1 with a AMD Radeon Pro WX7100. Installed Ventura using OCLP 1.50 . It works, but only for a few hours at a time. I get a lock up and panic indicates

Any updates to this thread that is almost a year old ?

Thank you!
