Has anyone else got any issue with Vuze on DP3? Or just me?

It gets stuck with the icon bouncing in the task bar, it appears and runs, continuing any downloads, but you cannot click on anything. When you do, it beachballs.

Wondering if anyone else has this or any workarounds. I know it's a beta, but want to check.

Had a similar problem with an app when I changed from Mavericks to Yosemite, don't remember which app but I can remember it worked fine on Mavericks but just beach balled on Yosemite. To make it run I had to force it to run in 32 bit mode.

The best thing I can suggest is to switch over to Transmission if for no other reason than it avoids having to install Java.

Never used transmission. Love Vuze for the automated RSS feed import and download. I need Java for various reasons anyway. I'm sure it'll work in the next beta. It worked in the others.

I don't use Vuze because I hate Java - I use Transmission - so can't really help. I just remember reading that El Capitan is cracking down on Java use.

Does Transmission allow me to add an RSS feed to it, and it checks it regularly, to auto download anything that appears in it?

I don't think it will directly, but it is possible to get feeds from a source like showrss.info (TV shows) and then use the app "Catch" to grab the ShowRSS feed and pass the info to Transmission for automatic downloading.

From what I've seen, you have to do a bunch of terminal commands?! That's a ball ache. Vuze was simple and straightforward. Install the one app, add RSS feed. Transmission seems to be rubbish as you have to do additional things that aren't straightforward.

Just an FYI...tvshowapp is pretty much abandonware now. It may get new eps of old shows, but the list of shows stopped being updated some time ago. The only way to get new shows is to add a custom RSS feed.

To be honest, kinda defeats the entire point of my thread.

I have an idea how to use Transmission to do what you want. Setup a free IFTTT account and also a Dropbox account. Then use this IFTTT "recipe" to watch the RSS feed and dump the torrent files into a Dropbox folder. Then setup Transmission to auto download anything that appears in that Dropbox folder. That should do exactly what you described.

Again, not what I asked.

When I say workarounds, I mean to make Vuze work.

It was working fine in Beta 1 & 2, broke in 3, it might work again in beta 4, but I'm not sure if it's just me that's having the issue. If others are, then I know it's a beta issue and I can report the bug. Though, I have now anyway.

Also, what's the point of transmission where it doesn't have some basic functionality you'd expect?! I've seen many people asking for it in Transmission and the devs, rudely, just say no. Vuze may be a little bloated (not that I notice), but it can auto download and auto convert to MP4, even got it so it auto imports into iTunes and when I wake up and hit sync, my iPad has new stuff on it for my journey to work. All within 1 app, with no messing with additional apps, IFTTT, or any of that.

I'm sure with your rude replies to three different people that tried to help you, others will be just lining up to help.

I'm rude? What about you, who didn't read the thread to see what I was after, or the other's, who basically ignore what I was asking and just slated my preference of using Vuze, wasn't rude? Xor37H was the only really useful poster in the thread for me.

Vuze can automatically get my feed, download it and convert to MP4, all in one app. Transmission requires me to download and set up 2 apps, plus I lose the auto conversion. Vuze works fine usually, I suspect it will work in a later Beta.

Also, this doesn't actually answer my post.

Yea but Vuze is bloated garbage. I won't help you degrade yourself by using it.
