Hey, I recently have been looking into tablets for what little art I do. For the past few months I've been scanning in my drawings through my printer onto my computer, where I can work on them more in inkscape and gimp. However, my printer is now entirely useless (it won't do anything any more), and I hate having to use my mouse to draw. The bamboo tablet I've read is very useful if only to replace the mouse. I don't have the money for anything fancy, though.

The way I see it I have 3 options: I can get a new Bamboo (not the fun) for $69, or a refurbished Intuos3 4x6 for about $110. I like the aesthetic of the basic Bamboo the best, and the Intuos is about the same size. I know it detects tilt, and the pressure sensitivity is twice as good.

Is it worth the extra money for the Intuos?

Thanks as always,
Muncher

Yes, it is worth the money. I love the feel of Intuos surface and pens (if you buy more pens)

Ideally, I'd get the medium Intuos4, but I can't find the money for anything over $100 right now, so it looks like I'll probably be getting the bamboo. The most important feature for me in the Intuos is the tilt, but from what I've read I probably won't miss a feature I never used.

Maybe when the Bamboo wears out in a few years I'll look at a smaller Intuos. Everything I've read says that at the least, the Bamboo is a good mouse replacement; I wonder how well it would work with Guild Wars? :p:D

intuos is the better buy however I would suggest getting a widescreen version (ie a6 wide - don't know the american version name)to match the screen ratio of your imac
