I'm thinking of getting a Wacom Cintiq and was about to go for the standard 16" version. Then I started wondering if it has display issues on M1 Macs? I ask because when searching for an external monitor for my M1, I had to buy 4k to get the text looking crisp. Does this mean that I'd need the more expensive Wacom Cintiq 16 Pro (which is 4K)? Or maybe there are drivers to help with compatibility on the standard HD version?

Thanks for any help

Both will work fine. Choose the one you like
You've used the Cintiq 16 on a M1 then? I know it will work, I just wasn't sure if the rendering will be sharp, because on non 4k monitors, the resolution rescaling makes text a bit fuzzy at the edges.

It will work like any 1080p monitor. Use it at native resolution and it will be native. Nothing changed on M1 compared to intel
I guess it was the latest OS that removed the resolution scaling they once had then rather than it being something with the processor. Anyway, my question is because normal 1080p monitors don't look good because of this. Whether it's the OS or something else, my computer outputs at 4k and if the monitor isn't 4k, the edges of the text looks fuzzy because of bad rescaling, which is why I had to get a 4k monitor for my second screen.

I want to hear from people who used a Cintiq 16 on their newer Mac / OS, because I want to find out what their experience was with drawing and looking at lines. Cintiq has drivers that may overcome a normal monitor's rescaling issues and in Amazon comments / reviews, I haven't heard anyone mentioning fuzziness. I still want to reach out here to users though.

No, the driver doesn't do anything to resolution. It works like a stock 1080p monitor, and drivers only handle computer input.
Also personally I highly recommend the 16 pro. It's a night and day difference with non pro, even when 1080p output is operating correctly

I am curious where this originated. I have never experienced this fuzzy issue with 1080p or 1440p monitors.

I had the issue when using a Dell monitor. I can't quite remember which one it was now but the resolution was either 1080 or 1440. The text looked fuzzy around the edges and when I started searching for solutions I noticed a faire few other people with the issue too. In the end getting a 4k monitor fixed the issue for me.

Here's some people talking about the issue:
