Hi people. Im in the market for buying a new MacBook Air, but can't decide as to whether i should wait for Mountain Lion to be released. Im concerned because of the fact that i purchased a brand new MacBook Pro last year about a month before Lion was released, and when i upgraded to lion my MacBook became ever so slow. For example, boot times went from about 30 seconds on Snow Leopard to two minutes on Lion. The people at the Apple store said there was nothing they could do about it.

What is your advice?

How did upgrading your OS affect your systems?

Upgrading your OS should not normally cause your computer to slow down in any significant way, but if you have problems again you could always just perform a fresh installation of Mountain Lion.

It has been Apple's practice to provide the new version of the OS to buyers who purchased new computers within some limited time window before the new version was released.

If you need a new computer, then buy a new computer. Do not think of the new new retina-display MacBook Pro as the $2200 box that a $20 OS ships in.
