Does anyone, at this point, really believe that the Mini will do anything but die?

Not trying to be provocative, just asking.

I choose to believe that there will continue to be a headless Mac that costs less than a month's salary, because the alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

Love the Samuel Beckett reference.

Yes I believe there will be a new Mini, a Broadwell based machine in 2015 with the slim chance of a Haswell machine this year.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

Nobody on this side of a confidentiality agreement is doing anything but speculating (guessing, wishing). Lots of confirmation bias infused interpretations of various things that in all probability have other explanations.

Apple will do what Apple will do. The mini serves a couple of niches that aren't really covered elsewhere in the lineup. Whether those markets are big enough to justify Apple keeping a separate product line is a question none of us can answer.

Why are you asking the question? Are you contemplating a purchase? If so the usual advice applies -- if you need a computer today buy the one that best fits your needs today. If waiting an indeterminate time for an unspecified feature set in an unannounced new model is feasible, then you don't need it today.

Apple sells plenty Minis. There's no reason to think it will die anytime soon.
