Was it really necessary to start two threads?

Seeing as how the first revision just came out after months of teasing, and years of speculation, no one has any idea about v2. If I had to guess, I would surmise we'll see it in roughly a year to a year and a half with a refresh since the current one is using Ivy Bridge E, not a Haswell derivative.

I'm waiting for the MPc (Mac Pro Cloud) computer where I just wave a wand towards my cool looking coffee cup sized receiver and all my work is done by a zetta-flop computer somewhere in Cupertino.

Come on guys let's rev up some hype!

surely if it does your work for you no one will pay the middleman (you) to do the work and they will just wave the wand themselves and old mac pro owners will have no income with which to buy a MPc

You know a lot of clients out there already think that's what happens! "Why do we pay you so much anyway, you just press the button and the computer does everything right?"

I am actually serious about the cloud computing thing though. Apple have already shifted to move certain hardware out of the box, it'll probably continue in that direction.

Maybe I'm just having a cry because yes it's pretty clever for such a small size but I think the design & direction is ahead of what a lot of people still need right now.

I am waiting for V2. I will let the early beta testers uncover design issues etc.. V2 Will have The newer cpus have AVX2/FMA

Very late 2014 or early 2015 for next Intel Xeon and with productions to ramp up probably looking middle of that year for Apple to launch the 8,1.

Last July they showcased this:

Socket 2011-3 Haswell EP or Xeon E5 v3 and features 14 cores, a 35 MB cache, twin 9.6 GT/s QPI channels, and support for quad channel DDR4-2133 memory.

There is speculation the socket will change too.

Most likely between then we'll see slightly faster processors such as the ones Marco Arment highlighted in his post about the Xeons for a refresh..

I do requirements work. My favorite is "We hired you because you're an expert. Why are you asking all these questions?"
