Whose waiting to be accepted to the developer program? I have been waiting a week so far. My app is almost done, but it would be nice if I could test it on my iPod. Is there anyway to check your status?

Do you apply as a business?

You can always e-mail Apple and they will get back to you in a few days...

Well when I filled out my profile I had to put a business name, so I just made one up. How do I apply as just an individual?

Same problem

I ran into the same problem and I waited patiently for 2 weeks after hearing about other people waiting so long. I ended up calling the Apple Store 800 number (check the website). Ask for the number for the iPhone Developer Program.

Turns out all I had to do was check a box and click submit then pay the $99 and the next day I could run apps on my phone. Somehow the original email was lost.

What rob said is true, i think it's an automated (more or less) process. There's just a validation link you need to click after your payment. Mine took about 7 hours from first applying to getting approved :)

Can anyone maybe PM me the email or phone number they used and how they got a response? I applied as a business with a valid Tax ID and everything and have received nothing in response. It has been almost 4 weeks.

Thanks in advance!

I sent you a PM.

Gave apple my $99 and got my activation code. Now to dive into this whole application signing and provisioning mess.

Where's this check box you need to click on to pay the $99?? All I have is an enrollment id.

You should have gotten an email, if you didn't then you have to do what I did and call. The "box" he was talking about(I think) is when you do the purchase you need to check a box at the bottom that says you accept the terms and conditions.

So I called this morning and they said they have a huge backlog and will be longer be expediting any requests to become a developer. Honestly, I find this extremely annoying and off-putting as a developer. They should allow developers into the program with little to no screening and then spend more time screening the actual applications and code...

Bummer being an iPhone developer right now...

I assume you mean, no longer...

This really sucks. Why go through all of the trouble to verify your identity if you are still going to screen all of the Apps?

Well there are some companies now that will publish your apps for you on App Store. Maybe you could check those out.

Somewhere in the USA....
Where do I apply?

Where do I apply? I went to the Dev Center, and tried to apply but, it said something like "Please wait while we process your request..." I haven't payed yet. Do I just wait for an email? Or should I email Apple and ask for directions? Thanks.

make yourself easy to verify

Just a suggestion, but before you apply as a business (or even individual), you might want to make sure all the information on your ADC account is totally complete and consistent, matching the information on your business license and/or state incorporation papers, phone book listings, email domain whois records, trademark registrations, etc., etc.
