I have a 3Gs and I really want to get the 4th gen iPhone later this year, but I played with the iPad and it's really tempting! The question is: should I wait until the 2nd gen iPad, purchase the new iPhone, or just not buy it all together??? Are you guys happy with your purchase?

you like what you see, but you are afraid they will make something better in the future? oh NOESSSSS

Well...its hard to say what to do since the actual specs for the new iPhone aren't out yet, although plenty of rumors including video recording.

Some food for thought, There are a fair number of people here who have cancelled their iPhone or Smartphone (Android, etc) and just went to a "dumb" basic phone, after buying an iPad as they felt the iPad covered most of their "smartphone" needs, and could do more (larger screen, iPad-only apps, etc).

No one knows what 2nd gen of the iPad will bring. But 1st gen iPad isn't like first gen iPhone, the situation is different as the iPhone was brand new platform with limited apps. The iPad even though 1st gen, is a mature product as it is an evolution of the years of iPhone and iPod Touch experience.

I am in same situation as you. I will be getting both! Already have wifi ipad and will grab new phone this year. Many sites by phones back for recycling and/or parts at very competitive rates. As far as ipad goes. Wow! Just wow! I love her more everyday! Really...

What would you use more? The iPad or iPhone? By this i mean do you text a a lot? Make a lot of calls?

Or would you rather have a full email experience and an amazing web surfing experience in one device?

Do you like apps in your pocket? Or do you want apps in a bulkier yet mobile device?

What are your needs in day to day life? Maybe the answer to that is a good place go start...

I'll be getting both, but I do understand the situation (the current end of May launch for iPad, with beginning June for expected announcement of iPhone is annoying to this end).

When I find myself in these situations I ask myself how I would feel if I didn't have one or the other and work out which one I'd rather have. Then my decision is informed and educated, but at the same time personal to me.

I used to say that about Plasma Screens.

Back in the days I bought a 58" 720p on the cusp of 1080p

Upgraded to a 1080p on the cusp of 120hz

Upgraded to a 120hz then guess what the 240hz came out

Point is, you'll never be happy with what you got because somewhere down the line there will be something better.

So get off the fence and buy the God Damn Thing.

And yes, I am very happy with my purchase. =D

interesting responses. I decided to wait and buy it. I use my iPhone for practically everything, so it will be my number one priority.
